SSG Troy Paolantonio, a high energy and charismatic performer, is a member of the US Army Field Band Flute section. As the Army’s Ambassador to our Nation and the World, The US Army Field Band regularly tours the United States telling the Army Story and honoring our soldiers and veterans. In addition to his position in the military, Troy is a sought after performer and clinician in the US and abroad.


A native of Coral Springs, FL, Troy began playing the flute at age 10 and has had a wide ranging career. He has performed professionally with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Miami City Ballet Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, the Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Entertainment Show “Jammin’,” Opera Tampa, Contemporary Javanese Percussion Ensemble Gamelan Son of Lion, and the Manassas Ballet Theater Orchestra.


SSG Paolantonio’s military career began in 2010 serving as a flutist with the 2ID Band in Uijeongbu, South Korea. In 2011, he was accepted as a fifer in the US Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps in Washington D.C. where he also served as an assistant drum major. He has been a flutist with the US rmy Field Band since August 2018.


Troy gave his debut international solo recital in 2011 at the United Culture Center in Seoul, South Korea. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and been guest artist for the 2017 Kentucky Flute Festival, special guest and clinician for the 2019 Nauvoo Flute Festival, and guest clinician at numerous universities across the US. He has been finalist and prizewinner of the Florida Flute Association College Young Artist Competition, the Atlanta Flute Club Young Artist Competition, Flute Society of Washington Young Artist Competition, the Hugo Kauder International Music Competition, and the 2018 Low Flutes Symposium Alto Flute Competition.


Troy Paolantonio holds degrees from The Florida State University, the University of South Florida, and completed his DMA in Flute Performance at the Catholic University of America in 2018. His mentors include Shelley Font, Rene Miska, Charles Delaney, Stephanie Jutt, Eva Amsler, Dr. Kim McCormick, Alice Weinreb, and Robert Dick. Troy has an active teaching studio in the National Capital region and is the current program chair for the Flute Society of Washington.
