Joanne Meyer White,
Flute Faire Coordinator
Joanne
Meyer White is a flutist with
The Virginia Symphony, a
position she has held for the past eight years. She received her
Master of Music from McGill
University in Montreal
and her Bachelor of Music from
Boston University.
Her teachers include Timothy Hutchins, Doriot Dwyer and summer
studies with Peter Lloyd. Prior to moving to Virginia Joanne
performed in the New England area most notably as principal flute of
the
Vermont Symphony. She also played with the
Albany Symphony and the
Rhode Island Festival Ballet. She has taught
at many local institutions including William and Mary,
East Carolina University, Virginia
Wesleyan, Hampton
University and the
Academy of Music
in
Norfolk as well as teaching privately. She
met her husband, Christopher White (a bass player) while playing
with the Virginia Symphony. |
