Dr. Lori Shipley
Dr.
Lori Shipley received her undergraduate degree in music from
Pennsylvania State University, her masters degree in humanities and
music from California State University, and her doctoral
degree in
music education from Boston University. She also holds a certificate
in distance education from the State University of West Georgia, and
a certificate in arts administration from
the University of Massachusetts
-
Amherst.
Dr. Shipley holds a full time teaching position at Hampton
University, where she teaches music theory, aural skills, music
history and literature, humanities, and
flute. She is music director of the Hampton Roads Flute Choir, the Hampton University Flute Choir, and
the Hampton University Chamber Ensemble. Dr. Shipley is active as a
soloist in the Hampton Roads area,
performing annually at the Occasion for the
Arts and First Night, both in Williamsburg, and giving
faculty recitals at Hampton University and area churches. She
performs with the Williamsburg Chamber
Players, the Regency Duo, and the Shipley/MurphyDuo.
